The Power of Showing Up Daily
Small Steps, Big Transformation: The Everyday Power of Just Showing Up
(Before we dive in, make sure to subscribe if you're new here to avoid missing out!)
Have you ever thought your dream was too big? The noise in your head mumbling, "I am not ready yet. I'll start when everything is perfect."
I used to believe that great accomplishments necessitated large steps and meticulous planning. Then one day, I discovered something: consistency always beats perfection.
Lesson from a Single Step
Several years ago, I wanted to start running. Aside from planning plans or playlists for the activity, I focused on one thing: putting on my shoes and going outside.
Some days I jogged a block, and others I ran a mile. It didn't matter how far or quickly I traveled; the magic was in turning up every day.
And over time, tiny efforts began to build up: I was no longer a guy who ran; I had become a runner.
Why Showing Up Every Day is Important
1. It Helps Build Identity
Tiny behaviors strengthen the impression that you are the type of individual who commits. Writers write. Runners run. Learners learn.
2. Momentum Outweighs Motivation
Motivation fades and flows; with each stride, alternative impetus rises. Each step becomes much easier.
3. The Additive Effect
Small, persistent acts lead to rapid development over time.
How to Begin Showing Up
Step 1: Reduce the Goal
For the time being, set aside the broader picture altogether. What's the smallest move you can take today?
Write a single sentence today.
Stretch for 5 minutes today.
Organize one drawer today.
Step 2: Concentrate on Frequency, Not Intensity
It’s not about doing things correctly, but about doing it regularly.
Step 3: Celebrate Your Winnings
Keep track of your progress, no matter how small. Even something as simple as marking a "X" on your calendar can be a strong motivation.
A Thought for You
What if everything you want is on the other side of simply showing up?
Not tomorrow. Not if it feels right. Just today.
You don't have to make significant progress every day. Any step, however small, will do.

YES!
I'm learning this lesson now as I am taking 6-weeks of radiation therapy for cancer. I'm checking off each day with an X through the calendar date. I'm almost halfway there already!
And we can also reprogram our thoughts in our mind, using simple techniques, like hypnotherapy and taking time to meditate on a daily. Sometimes being motivated only last for a moment, but when we look at different perspectives in our life, that helps us get to the root cause of what's truly holding us back.
